Personally I think the Fisherman is easier for a beginner because it gives you more details about the actual fishing experience than FP. Since I purchased a pre-owned disc, the price was less than half of what the PS4 store sells it for. I think you level up faster in The Fisherman than in FP but that's about it. The lakes are practically the same as in FP and any changes that I have seen are minute. But I have discovered the DLC's aren't free as I thought they would be. The Fisherman is great for me simply because it gives me the opportunity to use some of the tricks and tips that you all have shared. And not being a pro, the info/support was useless. And then the fix was a total work around. It took me about four contacts to their support team to finally get a response to one question. When they say pro, they mean it literally. I need to learn a LOT more before I try Fishing Sim. Overall the base and also the REAL fishing planet is way better than the pay to play one.I went crazy and bought Fishing Sim from PS4 store (full price - WOW!) and then bought a pre-owned disc for the Fisherman. Support is the worse than what anybody can imagine, and it's lacks in content. Even when it's on sale still just a piece of garbage in my eyes at least. The fisherman is yeah less grindy but meh i played it for 2 hours and for 50€ it's not worth it at all. But if you want to buy some, there are pretty cheap ones like the sport dlcs its cheaper in bundle but you don't really need all of them, just a few of them is more than enough, especially the bottom one, that's hella good and worth to buy. Fishing planet is more grindy, and yea there are dlcs that can help you to grind a little bit faster, but in my opinion if you just buy 30 days of premium or the 360 days one when it's on sale (like 30€ish), it's gonna help you a lot, and you don't have to buy any of the dlcs.
